4 Common Mistakes to Avoid with the Furniture in Your Hospitality Venue

Getting the furniture choices right for your bar, restaurant or cafe is vital to create a good experience for your customers. Avoid these 4 common pitfalls which could put people off your venue:

1. Wrong heights

Make sure the chairs & tables or stools & leaners are the right heights for each other. Just a few centimetres out and the whole dinning occasion becomes really uncomfortable. For example 750mm high tables with 450mm high chairs is ideal. 750mm high stools paired with 1050mm high leaners and 650mm high stools with 900mm high leaners.

2. Wrong comfort level

If your concept means people are in their seat for the duration of a long meal, make sure the chairs are comfortable and soft, ideally upholstered with arms. If you’re encouraging people to eat and run go the opposite way and choose harder chairs or stools. If your venue caters to multiple occasions include a mix of seating styles, such as booths or banquettes, chairs and stools.

3. Noisy furniture

Okay, this sounds like a weird one but have you ever been out to eat and every time someone pulls a chair out it screeches against the floor? Avoid this at all costs. Also consider the table surface, tiled and metal tables can look fab but the sound of crockery and cutlery banging against them can really ruin the ambiance in your outlet. When selecting furniture test it out first and consider the noise it makes.

4. Wobbly Furniture

No one wants to eat at a wobbly table. If you’re using table on an uneven floor ensure the legs are adjustable or have adjustable feet. Likewise you’re selecting furniture for an outdoor space which is on a slope make sure the seats and tables can either be adjusted or are made to measure to fit the slope.
